ABOUT SOLAR ELECTRIC & PV PANELS
How does solar PV work?
Photovoltaic cells in the solar panels collect the sun’s energy and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter converts the electricity from DC to alternating current (AC) for use in your home or export to the grid.
How many panels do I need?
The number of panels you need depends on your electricity usage. Your solar PV system will be sized to meet your electricity needs. You will continue to be connected to the electricity company’s grid, so when your system is generating more electricity than you use, for example when you are on vacation, your meter will spin backwards, giving you energy credits.
How long can I expect my system to last and what do I have to do to maintain it?
- PV panels are warranted for 20 or more years, but these systems are expected to produce effectively for 30 years or more
- Your entire system is warranted for 10 years.
- All power parts are UL rated
- Hardware is stainless steel and aluminum
- PV can withstand a 1” hailstone impact
- Little maintenance is required
Solar power is an ideal alternative energy resource that is simple, provides immediate returns and keeps adding value for 30 years or more. As an extra benefit, it is great for our environment, keeping our air clear, lowering pollution and reducing our country’s dependence on foreign oil. Energy generated from solar panels replaces electricity generated from burning fossil fuels, saving tons of carbon emissions. It is an ideal energy resource, especially in California where the sun provides significant energy nearly every day of the year.
